Boxee Live TV combining of free basic TV channels with live video

Diposting oleh fatih on Sabtu, 19 November 2011

Boxee is releasing a new Live TV stick add-on for media streaming set-top box that will allow owners to gain access television channels, the company announced officially. Boxee says that he will introduce a dongle Live TV in January that will be connected to the box and let Boxee users watch channels like ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC at no additional cost. People have been avoided completely cut the cable TV cable, Ronen said, because Internet-based content usually does not include sports, local news, special events, and live TV shows like Dancing with the Stars.

Boxee is betting that a combination of free basic TV channels with live video from services like YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, Vimeo and others would be enough for many people to end their expensive cable subscriptions. Possibilities for work, too. Boxee Live TV will initially be available in the U.S. and Canada. It will not be available on the computer and will not support any other TV tuner. No DVR component because the focus is on content directly, although Ronen said users could conceivably add a drive for recording to an additional USB input on the back Boxee Box.

"If you are like us then the way you watch TV has changed. The stuff on Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Vudu, Vimeo keeps getting better and you can watch it everywhere," Boxee CEO Avner Ronen said in a blog post. "You end up watching less traditional TV, but continually pay more for it, which doesn't make much sense."

Live TV news that the club will basically be a HD antenna decided earlier speculation that the add-on will complement the cable services such as Comcast, Dish Network and DirecTV. GigaOM, who had a hand in the new Boxee software update that includes support for live TV, unable to connect, and now we know why.

To start a new exercise you only need to press the reset button for 3 seconds, as shown on the screen. This causes the practice to be able to login, which can be viewed directly on the watch, although this could be the man to challenge thanks to 1-inch screen with a resolution of 128 × 128.

Because Forerunner 610 uses a touch screen, they've managed to pack in just 3 physical buttons are straight forward and easy to use, unlike the Forerunner 310XT or Forerunner 210. The iPhone 5 is going to be the fifth one after iPhone original, 3, 3GS and 4 though there is still the uncertainty of whether this next version iPhone will be named an iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S. Apple’s strict confidential policy is highly against revealing any information about its upcoming devices till it is officially announced by the company. Therefore, information regarding the next iPhone is still under cover.

Apple iPhone 5 launch date is nearing and people are wondering how the new iPhone is going to look like. There has been this buzz in the market that Apple plans to include advanced technology in its next iPhone.

This new generation iPhone is reported to be more thin and slim than its current model, its display being larger and edge-to-edge with more clarity and an 8-megapixel camera with advanced battery. Going with the WWDC 2011 announcements, it is certain that Apple will play its iPhone 5 on iOS 5 and will feature iCloud, Apple’s cloud-based media service.

According to reports if the iPhone 5 release date had been scheduled in September the new service and iCloud iOS5 operating system of this next generation iPhone of Apple would not have been in perfect harmony with the season. Therefore, it was decided to takethe date further. There have also been gossips about the delay being part of Apple’s carefully planned strategy of releasing the iPhone on the brink of the holiday season so as to have all eyes on its highly anticipated new iPhone.

If you are equally excited as me for iPhone 5, then following features could be major reason to wait for stunning iPhone 5.

iPhone 5 Features at a Glance:

S3 Krypton Laser Fires 85 Miles

Diposting oleh fatih on Jumat, 09 September 2011

Our skepticism meter is firing out of control, but we just can’t help but hope that Wicked Laser’s S3 Krypton Series laser is the real deal. The company says that it can blast beyond the Earth’s atmosphere, reaching an unprecedented 85 miles. In other words, it’s powerful enough to be viewed from space. Other things viewable from space: the great wall of China, the pyramids of Egypt – catch our drift?

Still not wowed. Starring into the S3 Krypton will unequivocally result in blindness, as it will appear over 8000 times brighter than Sun. And it’s green, which helps, since that color apparently is perceived to be “800%, 2,000%, and 19,000% brighter than red, blue, and purple light respectively.”

Inside of the aircraft grade aluminum chassis, aside from the laser itself, is a an internal thermopile detector that detects the operating temperature and can gradually lower the S3′s output, ensuring that you don’t fry your hand off. However, Wicked Lasers says it can operate 24/7 without damaging the laser’s diode. We guess that’s just a testament to its build quality.

Other features include a Smartswitch which can lock out unauthorized users and up to 9 operation modes – including 5 new tactical modes – SOS (Hi/Low), Beacon (Hi/Low), and Tactical Hibernation.

You can purchase the S3 Krypton from Wicked Lasers directly for $299.99

Amazing, Apple iPhone 4 vs HTC EVO 4G

Diposting oleh fatih on Senin, 16 Agustus 2010

Apple iPhone 4 and HTC EVO 4G are by far the two most exciting smartphones that money can buy to date. And in many ways they are very similar: both have big full-phone-size touchscreens, smart operating software, lots of free or cheap applications, high resolution photography and video recording, video call capabilities, etc. I imagine for a consumer who is not technically sophisticated it will be an absolute guess whether iPhone 4 or EVO 4G will work better for him or her. But yet somehow Apple and HTC have managed to design two completely different smartphones despite playing on the same field by the same rules. So I decided to try and look at both of them as if there was no such criteria as price, carrier, data plan, or even quality issues iPhone 4 and EVO 4G users have already experienced.

HTC EVO 4G

First up the EVO. It has been around a bit longer than the iPhone and it’s a first ever mobile phone to support 4G network. In plain English it means your Internet connection will be faster when Wi-Fi is out of access – exactly what iPhone 4 owners will be jealous of considering video calling (iPhone 4 can only do FaceTime, as they call it, on Wi-Fi). In hardware respect EVO 4G is brimmed up with latest technology (check out the specification list below). One of the few things one might not be completely satisfied with is the display. Yes, at its 4.3 inches it is quite big, but it is a standard LCD technology which compared with AMOLED or indeed high pixel density Retina opposition doesn’t perform just as good. On personal note, I also don’t like EVO 4G’s shape at the back of it. iPhone 4 is flat whole round witch most people like better – it feels nicer in a pocket and in hand as well. Still, half of the reason to buy EVO 4G is Android. At the moment of writing it is shipped with Android 2.1 but 2.2 Froyo update is cooking as we speak. And that is very important for the EVO 4G. You’ll expect this kind of smartphone to offer some of the best Internet experience in the market. It does. Android claims to have the fastest mobile browser whilst along with further enhancements Froyo quadruples Flash performance. Mind you that Safari doesn’t support Flash at all. Plus Android has true multitasking but will run its battery flat faster. All things considered including the audience that has actually bought HTC EVO 4G I’d recommend it to someone who captures and enjoys the sweet spot of the latest technology and extremely capable operating system. If you are not among them but you like the HTC EVO 4G, don’t worry – it will still fit you well.

HTC EVO 4G specifications:

* Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon @ 1GHz

* RAM: 512MB

* Operating system: Android 2.1 (2.2 update this year)

* Display: 4.3" TFT LCD, 800 × 480 resolution

* Storage memory: 8GB, up to 32GB w/microSD

* Rear camera: 8 megapixel

* Front camera: 1.3 megapixel

* Video recording: 720p @ 30fps

* Battery capacity: 1500mAh

* Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g (/n w/Android 2.2)

* Cellular network: 4G

* Size: 4.8 × 2.6 × 0.5

* Weight: 6oz

Apple iPhone 4

This, in my opinion, is the most charismatic smartphone if you accept this kind of description for a device. It certainly has the X factor that makes you take it out of your pocket just to let the others see it. EVO 4G will never be able to pull that off anytime anywhere. In front of tech enthusiasts – yes, absolutely, but that’s almost about it. Another feature peculiar to the all of the iPhones so far is that somehow they remain modern and up-to-date through all their lifetime and right up to the moment when the next-gen model is presented. I mean this time last year we could hardly wait for HTC Hero to come out. But after it did, it didn’t stay long in our hearts. iPhone 3G S on the other hand kept its positions till June. Even now I can tell the same will happen to the iPhone 4 – everything coming out next year or so will be put up against it. Should this affect your choice? – Yes, at least at some degree. It receives that kind of treatment for a reason. iOS 4 and hardware that runs it are not any less capable than the EVO’s and Apple app store does offer more apps, but unfortunately iPhone 4 also has a problem or two. As I said above Safari doesn’t support Flash and the operating system itself doesn’t have full-flesh multitasking but runs a number of services instead. However, running services in the background rather than processes improves greatly on battery life while keeping usability basically on the same level. That’s a small price to pay for some features you get with the iPhone 4 that others can’t match. One of them is, of course, Retina display. Enlarging pixel density is really a path to follow for all upcoming devices because physically they cannot get much bigger while display resolution has to grow. All in all if you for some reason didn’t like HTC EVO 4G you will almost certainly like iPhone 4, but it won’t necessarily work vice versa.

Apple iPhone 4 specifications:

* Processor: Apple A4

* RAM: 512MB

* Operating system: iOS 4

* Display: 3.5" IPS LCD, 960 × 640 resolution

* Storage memory: 16GB/32GB

* Rear camera: 5 megapixel

* Front camera: VGA

* Video recording: 720p @ 30fps

* Battery capacity: 1420mAh

* Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g/n

* Cellular network: 3G

* Size: 4.5 × 2.31 × 0.37

* Weight: 4.8oz

Saint Valentines Day is here. This has always been a time for some of the most romantic moments of the winter at least, if, of course, you have someone to share it with. I hope you do and if so, you will be thinking of some kind of present, something bigger then flowers and congratulation cards. So, our job here was to compile a list of what gadget world has to offer on the occasion of Saint Valentine's Day. Most of it is completely unisex and will suit a pretty large range of ages and interests.

8GB USB flash drive necklace $69.99

For starters, some St. Valentine's Day trivia. A USB 2.0 flash drive in a good looking heart-shaped body. So it is a bit of both: gadget and jewelry and the only female accessory on the whole list of presents. The looks of it are down to brushed metal pendant, shiny crystals and a universal neck chain. The techy filling is an 8GB USB 2.0 flash drive. And it costs $69.99. Significantly more than a double capacity memory stick, but the effect of useful jewelry realy does the trick.

Apple Magic Mouse $69.00

If you are ¢99 short on the necklace above, you can choose a much more exquisite Apple Magic Mouse. For $69.00, which is a price of a hardcore gaming mouse, Magic Mouse delivers one of the most elegant shapes computer peripheral can get and wireless signal transmission from laser sensor. The last bit is, by the way, prerogative of gaming hardware, but that is one of the last things its owner will do whoever he or she is. Its for Macs. That said however there is a way to make it work under Windows family operating systems. Be advised though to prepare a bit of explanation on that. In rest a Mac owner should be glad to get any Apple peripheral.

Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 $89.72

Another Valentine proof gift for all. A webcam is a perfect and one of the only tools for online video conversations. The thing about webcams is that one hardly gets any satisfaction from the fact that he or she is visible to the others, so not many bother themselves to buy and use one. It is than your chance to find a reasonably priced gift that will in fact be a good and long lasting one. $89.72 can buy you this Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 with Carl Zeiss lenses, auto-focus, brightness adjustment, face recognition, etc. It will take 8 megapixel photos and record 2 megapixel 16 : 9 video. Not bad for ninety bucks.

Sony DPF-D82 7.57 $99.99

Digital photo frame is another variant for your Valentine. You can think of it a small screen and memory module bound together and operated by minimum of software just to get pictures from memory appear on the screen. This particular digital photo frame from Sony has 1GB of onboard memory. They claim it will store two thousand images. Only in low-res I assume. Anyway, it's expandable with MS, SD and other cards. Sony DPF-D82 has an 8 inch wide 15 : 9 LCD, black body, remote control. Overall it's a good call for a gift and surely worths $117.57 it is asked for.

LaCie Grand 1 TB USB 2.0 external HDD $99.99

Earlier on we looked at some desktop peripherals. This one though I thing is the most biased to practicality rather than fancy design. An external hard drive comes in handy everywhere from PC to DVD player. If you follow industry news you might be aware that USB 2.0 technology is pushed out of the market slowly but steadily by the USB 3.0. So, is it ok to buy a 1TB USB 2.0 external HDD? Well, yes. It will take quite a time until similar SuperSpeed enabled unit will cost roughly the same and don't forget about compatibility. Any hardware it is used with must support same specification. LaCie Grand 1 TB is priced just under one hundred dollars and it is good looking as well.

Apple iPod nano 16 GB $163.99

Apple iPods are the most satisfying players in the world and nano is the entrance model to the Apple's player range. If you ask me, it is the prettiest also. The 16GB model costs just $30 more than the 8GB model so you shouldn't bother saving money on capacity here. For $163.99 5th gen iPod offers a full day of music playback, 5 hours of video. But the 2.2" 240 x 376 TFT display is too small for watching full-time movies in my view. Anyway, unlike Magic Mouse we looked at earlier, iPod nano can be freely used with any machine that has iTunes 9 installed.

Cowon S9 32 GB $259.99

iPod nano is not particularly a savior when it come to watching video. For these purposes you'd rather choose something with bigger, better display. Cowon S9 might just be the answer. S9 is not the latest model on the market but an amazing AMOLED 480 x 272 3.3 incher coupled with 32GB storage space come in almost cheap for $259.99. Cowon S9 supports lossless audio formats, popular video formats and will keep showing movies and clips for 11 hours. As a present it will immediately charm with its design, so if your funds can handle it, S9 should be one of the PMPs to choose from.

Kindle 6" e-book reader $259.00

If your Valentine is not the biggest fan of music and videos on the go, than he or she might like a modern interpretation of a good old book. I am speaking, of course, about the Amazon Kindle. Widely established as a best e-book reader, Kindle now faces a big opposition from recent readers and tablets. However, its discreet appearance, reasonable price and updated firmware (don't underrate this fact) made Kindle '09's bestseller. However, choose wisely between 6" model and 9.7" DX. Even if you can afford yourself to buy $489.00 DX that is less portable than the standard Kindle, you give away Apple iPad money for a device that is no better than an iPad.

Klipsch HD 300 Compact 5.1 theater $399.00

Sound system is not the most popular St. Valentine gift idea, which makes it a bit of an alternative to those that are. In the case of Klipsch HD 300 Compact 5.1 theater for just $399.00 you get full flesh 5.1 system, shiny glossy looks, powerful and qualitative sound output. The thing that makes it even better as present, look, you can read it in the name, "Compact" means you can deliver it yourself to your Valentine and set it up right away.

Google Nexus One unlocked $725.00

Google's market policy can be discussed for a long time. Google Nexus One, the latest child of today's Google market policy, and its specs can be discussed for a long time. However, if you choose it as a present for your Valentine what you choose is not a double microphone noise suppression system, or 1GHz Snapdragon 3G QSD8250 chipset. What you choose is unparalled user experience. Because Nexus One has AMOLED touchscreen it has almost double pixel density and much quicker response time than its rivals. Everything else is just a compliment to that really. Surely, you can have Nexus One much cheaper, but that will tie you up to a plan - not romantic at all. Unlocked Google Nexus One is $725.00.

More news on Apple tablet

Diposting oleh fatih

More and more news pop up as we approach to January 27th - the day of big Apple event that will bring in the world some official information on Apple tablet, widely known as iSlate, announcement of iPhone 4G and iPhone OS 4.0, plus new Mac OS X version. That said, we will now try to bind in some of the freshest leaks on basically all four products.

A trustful source close to Apple insiders stated recently that the tablet (model number K48AP) is going to be powered by an ARM architecture based processor, will be the first to feature Apple's latest touchscreen navigation technology and will be a hyperbolized iPhone overall.

That brings up the question whether the tablet is derived from iPhone 3GS or plausibly shares the same platform with iPhone 4G. As we know, iPhone 4G will be nothing like the current version considering hardware and software. UI, I am sure, will stay pretty close to what we have now and that's a good thing since iPhone is so popular for being extremely user friendly. Given that, I think Apple shall develop an iPhone OS 4.0-like operating system for the tablet rather than Mac OS X-like. However, some say that OS X update has been hold off because of some tablet-related bits here and there. Well, two weeks of waiting is what left.

Samsung B2100 Extreme, adventure with a flourish

Diposting oleh fatih on Selasa, 08 Desember 2009

The Samsung B2100 is an attractive device with a tough rubberised housing. The countours of the case are curved with "grip dimples" in the side, which makes it a very nice handset to look at. Everything is fully waterpoof, unless you open the battery cover or charger/headset cover. You can also wear the phone with a lanyard although there isn't one in the box. The rubbery keyboard is not unpleasant to use, but the controller pad does feel a bit stiff. The 128 x 160 pixel screen is basic but very clear and it is certainly good enough for most tasks.

The B2100 is very solidly constructed - and with good reason. Not only do all the panels and joins have to be watertight, but the phone can also survive a one metre drop onto a hard surface plus quite a lot of other abuse. We're not saying that the B2100 is unbreakable, but it can certainly survive events that will kill another phone stone dead. It is slightly on the heavy side - we weighed it at 106 grams with the microSD card installed. The weight is mostly due to the tough construction, if carried in a pocket it won't be a problem, but on a lanyard it could prove to be annoying.

Is it waterproof?

Samsung claim that the B2100 is fully waterproof. Well, is it really? We put it to the test in this video and the answer is "yes". As long as all the covers are firmly in place, then there appears to be no water ingress at all and the handset works just fine under water. In reality, you are not going to make a phone call underwater.. but it shows that the B2100 is highly resistant against rain, getting dropped in puddles or splashed with water or other liquids. It should also survive a trip down to the pub.

The phone wipes clean easily, and if it gets muddy or dirty then you can simply rinse it off.
One drawback is that if you use the wired headset then you will compromise the B2100's watertightness. Care also needs to be taken when opening the panels to avoid damage.

The tough casing does create another problem. Because everything is fully sealed, audio quality is slightly muffled. On a normal phone, the microphone and speakers are mounted internally and covered by a mesh or small holes in the casing to allow sound to travel easily. On the B2100, everything is sealed up and there is a slight but noticeable drop in audio quality as a result.

music player Multimedia

The music player is easy to use and it can cope with MP3s or synchronise with Windows Media Player. Tracks are controlled by the navigation pad plus a volume control on the side of the phone, and the B2100 can happily play music in the background while other tasks are carried out.

As we mentioned before, sound is slightly muffled on the B2100. However, the internal speaker is loud enough to make this a practical portable music player. When played through the supplied headset, audio playback is clear and can be turned up very loud. There's also an FM radio which works in conjunction with the wired headset - this is easy enough to use but it doesn't come with RDS, so radio station names are not displayed.

Web browsing

To be blunt - web browsing on the B2100 is a pretty miserable experience. This isn't a 3G device, so many customers will have to rely on GPRS rates which are about the same as an old-fashioned dial-up modem. The web browser is also pretty poor and can only cope with fairly simple pages, else it fails with a "document too large error", and pages designed for full blown web browsers often render very poorly. On the other hand, simple sites and those specifically designed for mobile phones work just fine.

Camera

Although it is unlikely that you'll buy the B2100 because of it's camera, the 1.3 megapixel unit is fairly decent, if simple. There's no flash, but a virtual iris control can adjust the brightness of a picture.. this takes a little practice to get right, and it can lead to an image being underexposed or overexposed. The B2100 does have some basic image editing functions which can help to fix the pictures you have taken.

The camera also lacks autofocus, but it copes with most things quite well. Again, if you are using the B2100 regularly for photographs, then you will probably want a data cable to transfer the images.

Ease of use

The user interface on the B2100 is pretty typical for a low-end Samsung handset. Even on the limited resolution screen of this phone, it is simple enough to use and there are plenty of keyboard shortcuts to speed things up. The keyboard is very rubbery though, and although the key travel is good, it does feel a little odd. The navigation pad is very stiff, and a little difficult to use.

Call quality

We found that call quality was OK, but slightly muffled due to the waterproof casing. It is certainly good enough for day-to-day use.
Value for money

In terms of raw technical specifications, the B2100 doesn't offer particularly great value for money.. until you take into account how tough it is. This phone will survive experiences which can kill most other handsets stone dead, although we didn't test the B2100 to destruction, we do think that this will be quite difficult to break. If you regularly expose your phone to harsh environments, then its robustness will probably pay for itself quite quickly.

Conclusion

The Samsung B2100 Solid Extreme is an exceptionally durable handset, but this durability does tend to compromise other handset features. Music playback is good, and the basic camera is surprisingly useful if a little fiddly to use. The web browser is the weakest part of the phone, even taking into account the lack of 3G.

It's an attractive looking device, and the toughness should be appealing to many consumers. And it's hard to beat the B2100's party trick of working under water!

Cheaper VoIP calls with the best VoIP routers

Diposting oleh fatih on Jumat, 20 November 2009

VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) has become available thanks to Internet and IP that was originally designed for data transmissions over IP networks. However, the speed and the abilities of modern Internet make it possible to digitize phone calls and bring use of VoIP. If you want to use VoIP you just need to buy a VoIP ADSL modem and sign up for this feature from your provider.

So what is the main advantage of VoIP? Its main advantage is its cost as opposed to usual phone calls. Usually we pay a monthly fee for local calls and we are charge per minute for long distance calls. And here is where VoIP calls come in handy; they do not charge any additional fee for long distance calls. So the savings using VoIP can be enormous. Even though the VoIP router price is decent it will save you much more on phone calls. Besides, you can call any VoIP phone or ordinary phone from your PC or VoIP device.

Usually VoIP routers have RJ-11 FXS ports for regular phones, and RJ-11 FXO ports for fixed-line connection. On the other hand you can buy wireless VoIP router that will give you the ability to use wireless devices to make phone calls. This is very convenient when you need your device to be portable and usable wherever a VoIP router is. VoIP advantages are obvious and their main one is the cost of phone calls.

Xbox 360 Pro 60GB for 249.99 USD

Diposting oleh fatih on Minggu, 15 November 2009

Was it the PlayStation 3 Slim that has made major gaming consoles buzz about themselves more than they got used to, but this month we had a lot really. Anyway, the Xbox 360 was the first one to start the September price drop, as we like to call it.

The current offer at Amazon is: the entry point – Xbox 360 Arcade, sets you only 199.99 dollars back, Xbox 360 Pro 60GB cost 249.99 dollars and this particular one I think is the best deal out of all four available there. Yes, there are four. The other two are of course Elite 120GB for 299.99 USD and a 399.99 USD Elite 250GB Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition.

This one is available only for preorder so far, because Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is coming only in November. This might a great time to order a Xbox 360 if you don't have one because we expect a lot of new peripherals for consoles, including new motion controllers, from Tokyo Game Show.
