Boxee Live TV combining of free basic TV channels with live video

Boxee is releasing a new Live TV stick add-on for media streaming set-top box that will allow owners to gain access television channels, the company announced officially. Boxee says that he will introduce a dongle Live TV in January that will be connected to the box and let Boxee users watch channels like ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC at no additional cost. People have been avoided completely cut the cable TV cable, Ronen said, because Internet-based content usually does not include sports, local news, special events, and live TV shows like Dancing with the Stars.

Boxee is betting that a combination of free basic TV channels with live video from services like YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, Vimeo and others would be enough for many people to end their expensive cable subscriptions. Possibilities for work, too. Boxee Live TV will initially be available in the U.S. and Canada. It will not be available on the computer and will not support any other TV tuner. No DVR component because the focus is on content directly, although Ronen said users could conceivably add a drive for recording to an additional USB input on the back Boxee Box.

"If you are like us then the way you watch TV has changed. The stuff on Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Vudu, Vimeo keeps getting better and you can watch it everywhere," Boxee CEO Avner Ronen said in a blog post. "You end up watching less traditional TV, but continually pay more for it, which doesn't make much sense."

Live TV news that the club will basically be a HD antenna decided earlier speculation that the add-on will complement the cable services such as Comcast, Dish Network and DirecTV. GigaOM, who had a hand in the new Boxee software update that includes support for live TV, unable to connect, and now we know why.
