We realize that some of you non-A5 jailbreakers are itching to get to 5.1, even though there seems to be no compelling new feature there. Because of geohot’s limera1n exploit, those with devices earlier than the iPad2 can test the 5.1 jailbreak waters if they really want to, using redsn0w 0.9.10b6. Here’s what you need to know:
his is a *tethered* 5.1 jailbreak for non-A5 devices. You’ll need to use redsn0w to “Just Boot” your device every time it power cycles, otherwise jailbreak apps won’t work (neither will Safari).
If you use ultrasn0w for your carrier unlock, be sure to use a custom IPSW to get to 5.1 first! Don’t ever restore to a stock Apple IPSW! Use redsn0w’s “Custom IPSW” button to create a NO_BB_* version of the 5.1 IPSW and restore to that instead of the stock one. (That option is available only to 3GS and iPhone4-GSM owners.) ultrasn0w itself will be updated for 5.1 in the next few days (same baseband support, not 5.1’s baseband).
If you’re lucky enough to have an old-bootrom 3GS, this jailbreak is actually untethered (redsn0w will figure that part out automatically).
While we were at it, we added @pod2g’s steaks4uce exploit to support MC models of the iPod touch 2G (whose last firmware was 4.2.1). So now redsn0w will auto-detect and jailbreak all versions of that older device.

Pod2g, the hacker behind the iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreaks, has revealed that a public jailbreak for A5+ iOS 5.1 devices is at minimum weeks away. "About 5.1 jailbreak for A5+ devices : it's not out and I have no clue when it'll happen. I'm working some hours per week on finding vulns." Installation:
First install PerPageHTML from Wyandwarrior (Cydia), Springjumps and InfiniDock. You also need Gridlock or iBlank to freely place your icons.
Copy all folders inside "!Springjumps duplicates" to /Applications/..here... This generates six back-arrows after a respring.
Copy all four LiveOS theme folders to Libary/Themes/...here... and also the separate "LiveOS LoadingScreens.theme"-folder from the attachment.
InfiniDock must be setup for six dock icons
Start the Springjumps app, enable only Springjumps 1-6 (see picture at the attachment) and rename them to whatever you prefer by pressing on the textfield. Close the app and place the six Springjumps at your dock.
For your Homescreen place the clock app at the top middle and 4 other apps/folders two rows below like shown at screenshot 1.
For the following pages 1-6 place also one of the back-arrows on top right (see picture 2) and at the middle of each page place Calculator, Settings, iTunes, Maps, Game Center, Facebook (You can change that later)
Copy all folders you find inside the "!PerPageHTML" folders to User/Libary/PerPageHTML/...here..., start the PerPageHTML app and allocate all of this Folders to your pages, starting with "LiveOS-Spotlight" to "Spotlight", "LiveOS-Page1" to "Page 1" and so on...
Enable all LiveOS themes at Winterboard (except the woodenfloor Mod). Make sure the LiveOS themes are on top of your WinterBoard list, and disable other themes you may have installed and could conflict with this theme.
NOTE1: Don't enable Springjump 0 (the first one) and make sure it´s textfield is empty NOTE2: If you renamed the springjumps you must respring to take effect on it.

Launch TinyUmbrella by double clicking its icon.
Connect your device and make sure it lists saved SHSH Blobs for the firmware you are restoring to. You may need to click Save SHSH to restore your blobs from Cydia if you don't see any listed.
Click the Start TSS Server button.

Launch iTunes by clicking its icon in your Start Menu.

Copy "P_voices.zip" to the following directy (SSH, iPhone Explorer, whatever you like): User/Applications/TomTom.app(should be a folder of letters and numbers)/US-Canada.app(or whichever version you have)
Using iFile, unarchieve the "P_voices.zip", once completed, double-check "premium_voices" folder to see if files are there.
Using iFile, Copy "premium_voices" folder, once copied go to the following folder: User/Applications/TomTom.app(should be a folder of letters and numbers)/Documents
In this folder you shall see another folder with the same name called "premium_voices", go ahead and paste over this folder (Overwrite All)
Once this is done, make sure to close the TomTom App, if its already open in the multi-tasking bar. Launch TomTom, go to: Change Settings/Voice/Celebrity Voices
In here you can choose the new voices, select one and make sure it plays back a preview. If it does you have done it correctly
If it DOES NOT, playback a preview of the new voice, go back to ifile and redo steps 3 and 4. Then go back into the TomTom app and retry the voice sample, you may have to uncheck and select another voice and then recheck the celebrity voice to get it to playback.
If it does not work at step 7, delete all files within the folders you changed or simply uninstall the TomTom app and then reinstall. After this start the whole process over again.
