well, its the end of the year, and its been great so far. so i've decided to get a new housing for my bold. not that i didnt love my old housing, i fucking love it!! im changing it because i friggin' dropped my phone a few weeks ago. ='( but i want to show you guys what i have done! haha check it out!!

it looks sooo awesome! i cant stop touching it haha but then its fingerprint magnet though. =(

the only downfall of this set up is that the keypad is not as good as the OEM one, but it works just fine. just the feel is a bit different. and i've gotten used to my bold feeling slightly heavier due to the old metal back cover. now its back to normal weight.

TRACKBALL PROBLEM??

alot of you are still using a blackberry with a Trackball. this post is dedicated to those who's come to realize that their trackball "CLICK" is getting a bit "softer", or that ur trackball is getting "STUCK".

now let me explain to you how this works so u have a better understanding as to why.

1) ur rubber trackball is like a car tire, it will wear out eventually. when it gets "bald" thats when its not gripping the teeth/rail. (this cannot be fixed, a replacement is due)

2)ur trackball is like a mouse that we used to use with a ball at the bottom. it has 4 straight bars with teeth holding that ball in place, when you roll it, it makes the bar rolls, hence the rolling movement. it will get dirty time to time, and it does require cleaning when it gets "STUCK" and are not moving into one direction. although reasons may varies as to ur trackball functionality, but dirtiness is the main reason why.

cleaning it - you may use nail polish remover, or any alcohol to rub it with a cotton swap lightly, make sure ur phone is OFF, and not too wet. then just clean it thoroughly. then, make sure it is completely dry before u ON ur phone.

CLICK IS SOFTER, NON-RESPONSIVE

so, when you press on this ball from the top, something at the bottom, thats attached to the motherboard module, called a TRACKBALL DOME, its a very thin piece of metal thats shaped like a dome, pushes it back up. over a period of time, due to over usage, it loses its functionality, and it needs to be replaced. hence, the "softer'' click.

or that water/sweat somehow got in between it, and make it not touching the motherboard module when u click, a cleaning is due.

SO FAR, AS I KNOW, there is nowhere in malaysia that offer this service, if they do, they will easily charge you 50-100RM, cuz this part is hard to come by, and it requires to take apart ur phone completely to do. i can replace it for you for RM30 =D

DIGI COVERAGE

well im compelled to write a something about DIGI. as some of you might know that i've switched from MAXIS to DIGI in December due to RM58 unlimited BIS access DIGI offer and here is my feedback.

now first off, i have to say, the coverage is just not as good as maxis. with maxis, i will constantly get 3G. when in my office at midvalley inside the building or elevators, at least EDGE. but even then i never really use my blackberry for anything due to limitations of data. (if ur one of the those people who can afford it, or ur company is paying for ur RM120 unlimited from maxis, u can stop reading.)

with DIGI, when inside tall buildings or shopping centre, it will go to EDGE. and in elevators, it will sometimes flat out cut you out. with that said, i have to share my 2cent. listen, when ur in a shopping centre, chances are ur not surfing the net while walking, or that elevator ride is what, 10 seconds long? to me, it doesnt really matter.

with the unlimited data, i find myself using my phone ALOT more than before. in a car, at home, in the wash room, before sleeping, when i wake up. just whenever, i dont have to think about data anymore. and knowing thats its only RM58?!?! pfftt haha its worth it.

chances are, with more people switching, DIGI will be forced to upgrade their infrastructure soon enough. until then, IM A HAPPY DIGI USER. =D

How to turn off BBM Group notification

Most BB users should know BlackBerry Messenger has added “BBM Group” feature since version 5 onward. This is a great feature allow you to join a group (Max is 30 people) for group chat. Of course you will meet more friends in the group chat.

The disadvantage is the more group you join (while people are aggressively chatting in the group), there will be many messages push into your BlackBerry phone. And notification sounds are non-stop ringing in you BlackBerry phone too.

Actually there is a way to disable a group notification and I found not many people know how to disable it. Here I share the secret. Go to BBM Group, press menu button, then select “Group details”. Below screen will appear.




Scroll down to the bottom part. Change the setting “Turn Off All Notifications For This Group” to YES.

Official BBM 5.0.0.55 no spell check?

BBM 5.0.0.55 now is official release. BB user can download it at BlackBerry official website. Not much changes compare to previous 5.0.0.33. Just Added “Delete Backup File” under options. But I found this version is run faster and smoother.

Some weird thing I found .55 release seems to not have spell check if you are on 4.6.x.x OS. Unless you are using 5.0.x.x OS, then spell check is remain there. My opinion, if you really need spell check in 4.6.x.x OS, please use BBM 5.0.0.33

1) Uninstall BBM 5.0.0.55 (Go to Options - Advance Option - Application)
2) After install, restart your BlackBerry

5) Make sure your PC has Blackberry Desktop Manager and internet access
6) Launch Blackberry Desktop Manager then click on Application Loader
7) Select Add/Remove Applications

BlackBerry Windows Live Messenger auto disconnect?

Do you notice that BlackBerry Windows Live Messenger will disconnect automatically? This is due to carrier network unstable then affect connection lost to MSN network. Maybe some other country that has better and stable network coverage so BB user didn’t encounter this issue, but in Malaysia I believe most BB users are encounter this issue.

Here is my idea to solve this issue. During login screen, please check the “automatic Sign-In” option. With this option enable, Windows Live Messenger will auto reconnect back to network when disconnected.

**PRODUCT REVIEW**

i have to be honest here, its what i do....

anyways, these frost colors looks pretty awesome i must say.

BUT, the colors wear off alot faster than the metalic ones, as it appears to be that the color finishing was not clear coated (hence the matte finish), therefore there is no protection to the colors.

the bezel itself color seems to withstand way better than its buttons, my coffee one lasted 2 months of heavy usage (of course, its mee....) before noticeable. the buttons color seems to chip off easy, like a week's use.

anyway, my suggestion to this problem is that to replace the frost buttons with OEM buttons. and to perhaps get a silicone case. =)

well, just to let u guys know, i have switch over to digi. for just the simple fact that they offer rm58 UNLIMITED DATA!!! now thats what im talking about! not this rm120 bullshit maxis is offering. SWITCH TODAY!! get ur money worth. thats why u guys are at this site! haha cheapest deal in town! =D i'd like to thank everyone who's purchased so far, and some of you are loyal customers! thanks for referrals!!
anyways, yes, SWITCH!! it took like 24 hrs to switch, i just walked into digi and told them i wanna switch over. BUT make sure u want the BIS plan, not the 3G unlimited internet plan, cuz the pay is very similar. they give u a new simcard, and u get to keep ur number and everything. so simple my pet monkey can do this. as for the service/coverage, i noticed so far not as good as maxis, but hardly noticable in KL. only noticed when im in elevators.
